Dear ,
Given recent worrying developments in the financial markets and in the global economy, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament has takenthe initiative to organise on:

16 and 17 March 2010, in Brussels,

its sixth annual inter-parliamentary debate on the following subjects:

The post-crisis strategy for growth and jobs

Modernisation of the global financial architecture

In order to address all issues of concern for our respective institutions and for the Europeancitizens, which we represent, the debate will focus on jobs and sustainable growth(Tuesday, 16 March) and Europe's position on how to improve the global financialarchitecture (Wednesday, 17 March). The 2010 annual inter-parliamentary debate comes at a highly relevant time. As you mayknow, Europe will need to decide on its next strategy on growth and jobs until 2020 duringthe spring of 2010. This debate is the follow-up to the very successful events between theCommittee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and relevant committees of the NationalParliaments, which have taken place each year in Brussels since 2005. Last year's debatewas entitled "European Economy - What Next?".Invitations have been sent to Speakers/Chairs of all Parliaments of the 27 EU MemberStates. We would be very honoured if(your Parliament)were able to send, on 16 and 17March 2010, a delegation of two Members with an involvement or interest in the subjectsof this year's inter-parliamentary debate. We are hoping for an active exchange of views during the two day session and believe thatsuch open debates, where both national and European parliamentarians can exchange viewsand express their concerns, are essential for the future of the European Union. Please do not hesitate to contact our respective services for any further information at thefollowing e-mail address:[email protected].We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,

Jerzy Buzek
