His

European Commission
Jean-Claude
Juncker
His
Excellency
President
of
the European
Council
Donald
Tusk
Your
Excellencies,
ln
December
we
had
very
useful
discussions
regarding the outcome of
the
Danish
referendum on
3
December 2015
and
the
issue
of
Denmark's position
regarding
police
andjudicial
cooperation
against
cross
border crime.
I would like
to
thank
you
for
setting
up
a
meeting
on such short
notice.
I
duly
noted your
preliminary
comments
regarding
Denmark's
possible cooperation
with
Europol
after
the
new regulation
becomes
applicable
in2017,
and
I
understand
that the
Commission
will
not
be
able
to formally
react
to
a
Danish
request
for
a
parallel
agreement
before
the
new regulation
has
been
formally
adopted.
Subsequent
to our meeting
I
have had
talks
with
the
Danish
political
parties,
informing
them
of
the substance
of
our
discussions.
All
political
parties
agree
that
Denmark should
seek
to
be
associated
as
closely
as
possible
with
Europol
after
the
new
Europol
regulation
becomes
applicable
in2017.
We have also considered the
possibility of
a
continued association of Denmark to
a
limited
number
ofcore
legal
acts
concerning the
fights
against cross
border crime.
These
considerations
have,
however, not yet
been
brought to
a
conclusion.

'L-
We
look forward
to continued
discussions between
Denmark
and
the Commission
services
in the coming
weeks and
months in
order
to explore
the
legal
possibilities
and
would
appreciate
an assessment
following
the
coming consultations.
Yours
Lars
Lskke
Rasmussen
