Dear Colleague,
It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to the Interparliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign
and Security Policy and Common Security and Defence Policy (CFSP/CSDP), which will take place on 7–
9 September 2017 in Tallinn, Estonia.
While preparing for the CFSP/CSDP Conference, we have exchanged views and ideas with several of our
colleagues from both the European Parliament and national parliaments. These discussions have led us
to the understanding that the most valuable and beneficial aspect that we can offer is the possibility to truly
debate among colleagues on a wide spectrum of issues regarding EU foreign and defence policy.
Therefore, our aim is to offer a stimulating and substantial conference filled with debates and conducted
in a more relaxed, informal atmosphere.
In the programme attached to the letter, you will find a variety of relevant topics, from the more
philosophical discussion defining Europe’s place in the world to the more specific panels that turn the
spotlight on transatlantic relations or focus on practical aspects of strategic communication. The
distinguished speakers include the President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid, and the EU High
Representative Federica Mogherini.
We hope to offer you a thought-provoking conference as well as an excellent opportunity to meet up with
colleagues from all over Europe.
The registration process for the hotels along with other relevant details are explained in the practical
information attached to the letter. We ask you to kindly take note of the registration deadlines.
We look forward to welcoming you in Tallinn.
Yours sincerely,
Marko Mihkelson
Chairman
Foreign Affairs Committee
