Distinguished Chairperson, Dear Colleague,
I wish to convey to you my strong and renewed interest also on behaif of the Foreign
Affairs Committee of Italy’s Chamber of Deputies that I have had the honour of chairing for the last
few months in enhancing cooperation between our Parliaments in the framework of a privileged
dialogue among representative legislatures.

I am deeply convinced that the effective exercise of a parliamentary mandate predicated
upon the values of democracy and liberty is of fundamental importance to manage and overcome
the crises of our times.
Parliaments, parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation hold an invaluabte potential in an
international and, notably, European scenario beset by the consequences of a self-referential global
govemance, which for far too long has been indifferent to the relationship between citizens and the
institutions.
Against this backdrop also in preparation for the upcoming autumn meetings on the EU’s
foreign policy in the perspective of retaunching the founding values of the European project
strongly hope that during the current parliamentary term it will be possible to further strengthen
relations between our Parliaments, both within the interparliamentary Assemblies and Conferences
which our countries participate in, and on the occasion of bilateral visits, aimed at exchanging
views on issues ofcommon interest.

Looking forward to meeting you in the near future let me convey to you my warm regards.
Yours Very truly
