Dear Colleague,
I am pleased to inform you that the European Parliament's Committee on Agriculture and Rural
Development (AGRI) will organize an interparliamentary committee meeting with the
committees of the Member States' Parliaments responsible for agriculture and rural
development, on the following subject:
“Towards the CAP after 2020: the future of food and farming”
The meeting will take place on
24 April from 12.00 to 18.00
on the European Parliament's
premises in Brussels, in the framework of the monthly meeting of the Committee on
Agriculture and Rural development.
As you will know, the legislative proposals for the future agricultural policy are expected to be
adopted in June and they will predefine the framework of the future programming period and
the effectiveness of the future policy.
In this context, our meeting in April will offer the possibility to national Parliaments to express
their views on the main elements of the new agricultural policy with a special focus on
implementation challenges at national level.
We are therefore pleased to invite up to four members of each national Parliament (two from
each chamber in the case of bi-cameral Parliaments) to participate in this event and to make a
short presentation of your Committee's views on the matter.
