Dear Colleague,
It is with great pleasure that I invite you on behalf of the German
Bundestag to take part in the
Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic
Coordination and Governance in the European Union
from 11 to 13 October 2020
in Berlin.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we plan to place our focus at
the Conference on dealing with the economic consequences of
the crisis in particular. In addition, we wish to provide members
of the European Parliament and members of the national
parliaments with the opportunity to examine the interaction
between monetary and fiscal policy and the future of the fiscal
rules, and also to contribute to a targeted approach to the
measures to foster
Europe’s economic recovery. The lessons to be
learned from the Coronavirus crisis for trade, supply chains and
investments will also be discussed. Furthermore, we plan to
organise a new format for intensive debate on specific topics at
our Conference, with two discussion forums taking place in
parallel: one on the digitalisation of the financial sector and
another on the European Green Deal.
At the moment, we would favour a physical meeting of the
Conference in Berlin. We are making careful preparations for this
and taking all necessary precautions to avoid the risk of
infection. We hope that the situation in your own country and in
Germany continues to permit this and that we can welcome you
to Berlin. We will continue to monitor the epidemiological
situation and inform you of any changes.
