In the framework provided by Article 51 of the Regulation

2016/794
on Europol, we
are pleased to invite you to the
10
th
Meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group
(JPSG) on the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol).
The
Meeting
will be hosted by the
Assemblée nationale
of France in Paris, and will take
place on
28 February 2022.
Due to the continuing measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting will take
place via remote participation.
The Meeting will have on its agenda a number of specific issues directly arising from
the JPSG’s prerogatives according to Article 51 of the Europol Regulation, including
presentations by Catherine DE BOLLE, Executive Director of Europol, and
Mr Wojciech WIEWIÓROWSKI, the European Data Protection Supervisor. Keynote
interventions will be delivered by Ylva JOHANSSON, EU Commissioner for Home
Affairs, and Gérald DARMANIN, French Minister of the Interior. The thematic
debates will focus on the opportunities and risks of Artificial Intelligence for Europol,
and, Europol’s contribution in the fight against migrant smuggling.
Please find attached the draft programme of the Meeting as agreed with the Presidential Troika.

If delegations wish to send us their documents relating to any item on the agenda in line with
Article 4.6.2 of the JPSG Rules of Procedure, we invite them to do so
by 11 February 2022.
General aspects
According to Article 4.3 of the JPSG Rules of Procedure, the working languages of the JPSG
are English and French. All documents submitted by Europol for the Meeting in line with
Article 51.3 of the Europol Regulation, as well as all written questions, received replies,
documents submitted by the delegations to the JPSG and other relevant documents will be
published on the
IPEX JPSG website
ahead of the Meeting.
