Subject: Invitation to the DROI hybrid interparliamentary committee meeting on the
topic ‘Coordination between EU delegations and EU Member State embassies
on human rights in third countries’ on 19 July 2023
Dear Chair,
I am pleased to inform you that the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Human Rights
(DROI) will organise a hybrid interparliamentary committee meeting with national
parliaments on 19 July 2023 from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. The meeting’s topic is ‘Coordination
between EU delegations and EU Member State embassies on human rights in third countries’.
The aim of the meeting is to discuss how best to ensure that EU delegations and EU Member
State embassies in third countries coordinate on human rights issues in order to protect and
promote fundamental rights and freedoms as enshrined in international treaties in its relations
with partner countries.
The DROI Subcommittee would like to invite members of national parliaments, in particular
members of committees responsible for external relations, to this meeting to share their views
and experiences.
The meeting will be held in hybrid format: members of national parliaments can therefore
choose whether to attend the meeting in Brussels or remotely. Further practical details
regarding the meeting will be forwarded, in due course, to the department in your parliament
that is responsible for relations with the European Parliament.
